Inspired by the Boys at The Buried Life, I've decided to start my own list of 100 Things To do in my lifetime.
Some of them are things that are already in progress but I'm hoping by this stage in my life I SHOULD be working my way through my list!
I'll need a bit of time to come up with 100 but here's a start. (The one's in pink were totally copied from The Buried Life, they have some great ideas!)
1. Be on Oprah
2. Run a successful business
I have two which is great and I love it but I'm not there yet. How do I define successful? When you reach a turnover of $1 million.
3. Be a board director of someone else's very successful business!
4. Get married to Mr Right
(I've got this one covered ;-)
5. Have a fun wedding
(I've got this one covered ;-)
6. Have babies with Mr Right
(On my way to having this one covered ;-)
7. Visit every continent
(Europe, Africa, North America, South America, Asia, Australia, Antartica)
How and why I'll make it to Antartica remains to be seen, but one day, I'll get there.
8. Learn to ski or snowboard
9. Write a children's book (and get it published)
(working on it!)
10. Write a book of contemporary fiction (and get it published)
(working on it)
11. Write (or at least be on the writing team) for a well known TV show
12. Water ski
13. Learn pilates
I've tried to love yoga but I don't so I'd like to get round to pilates at some point
14. Experience zero gravity
15. Be in a carnival (all dressed up too!)
16. Learn to play the Cello
I learnt the Violin and Viola (why? I mean really why?) but I was always intrigued by the Cello.
17. Have dinner with The Obamas
Even if there are 1000 people in the room, as long as I'm one of them, that's fine by me.
18. Get something named after me
Does a cocktail count? (November 2009)
19. Pay for a stranger's groceries
20. Give a complete stranger a book I've finished reading in an airport. And make a habit of this.
21. Do a Xmas lunch for homeless/starving children somewhere in Nigeria.
Charity begins at home. And while there are starving children everywhere, Nigeria is where I feel most inspired to help.
22. Pay for someone's bus ride.
Someone did this for me once when I didn't have any change and nor did the bus driver. I've always thought it was such a NICE thing to do.
23. Give a stranger a £10 oyster card.
Londoners can be a funny bunch. I'll report back after I manage to do this one.
24. Host a Cooking Show
After being very inspired by the book I just read, Julie & Julia, this sounds like a lot of fun.
25. Catch something and eat it
I could probably only cope with doing this with fish though!
26. Dance on stage at a major concert.
Ah, the joys of a youth well spent.
27. Climb a mountain
Large or small will suffice!
28. Swim with dolphins
29. Try out surfing (without braining myself with the surfboard)
Ah well, we can but hope right?
30. Learn to cook Coq Au Vin.
One of the building blocks of French cuisine, so why not?
31. Make croissants from scratch (and have them turn out well at least once)
I'm not a croissant fan, but they look mighty complicated to me....and therefore a feat worth achieving!
32. Learn to make a signature dish from each continent.
Now, I know this is relative and 'signature dish' will depend largely on who you're talking to but I'll just work on signature from my perspective.
Europe - Paella
Asia -
Africa - jollof rice
North America
South America
33. Learn to make sushi
34. Pound yam
All by myself in one of those proper old school giant pestle and mortar things. From start to finish.
Now if you've met me, and seen the traditional methods of pounding yam, you might understand why this will be a major achievement.
35. Be on the radio
36. Get name checked in a song.
37. Buy my own Birkin bag
Or at least be able to afford one (with MY money) and decide I don't want one anymore.
38. Own a pair of Manolos
39. Own a pink diamond
40. Own a yellow diamond
41. Own an internally flawless diamond
Colour D. Internally flawless as in IF.
42. Learn to grade gemstones
Just got my graduate diamonds diploma (november 09)
43. Work as an independently contracted gemologist
44. Be a ring consultant.
I love rings and I'd love to help people choose that 'perfect ring' when the time comes. And for any other occasion that you feel the need for a ring for.
45. Buy my own first class ticket
And yes, paid for with my own money. And no, that whole what's his is mine doesn't count!
46. Buy someone else a first class ticket
47. Be on CNN
Either reporting the news, being a feature or sitting down to share my opinion.
48. Scuba dive
I can barely swim, but you don't need to be able to swim to Scuba Dive. You just need to 'get' the breathing technique. Right?
49. Snorkel
Baby steps right?
50. Helmet Dive
Now that looks like my cup of tea.
51. Learn to use one of those big fancy digital cameras properly.
Bro, are you listening?
52.
What would make it onto your list?
