Meeting Christian

Today started out to be a cold, wet dreary Wednesday.

...and has miraculously morphed into a warm-ish, sunny, autumn day.

And the beacon of sunshine on my day was meeting Christian Louboutin!

Yep, the Big Kahuna of shoes himself.

I'm a huge fan as seen here, here, here, here, here, here oh and here, here and here too.

How? When? Where? Why?

Image sourced from Google.

It was totally random and the benefit of reading so many blogs and magazines meant I recognised him immediately (and when searching for this image of him, I realised the pink jacket appears to be a signature look as seen here). Shame I didn't have my big fancy camera with me!

Taking a short cut through the back streets of South Kensington, armed with my daily Soy Chai from Caffe Nero, I spotted a little man in a dapper pink jacket.

And I thought...Oh my golly gosh. That. Is. Christian. Louboutin!

Anyone that frequents London knows, as busy as a busy part of a residential area may be, the backstreets are quiet, quiet, quiet. The only people I see are delivery men, ticket wardens and the occasional yummy mummy. And sometimes, in the reflection of a big window, me.

As I got nearer, I looked a little closer and as I approached said 'Christian?'

I would have said 'Mr Louboutin' as that's more polite but I didn't want to mispronounce his surname so I went with the easy option.

Christian..Yes? (and he came off his phone)

Me: (big smile) I just wanted to say how much I love your shoes! I have theRed Bretelles and the Paquitas and I love them.

Christian: (big smile) Ah yes, very special shoes. I like your scarf.

Me: Thank you. Let me leave you to it.

Christian: It was nice meeting you (reached out to shake my hand).

Me: Bye (figured I better move along before I got even more starstruck and started acting like a deranged fool).

Christian: Have a nice day! (and went back to his call)

What's In Your Bag? Tips on how to travel 'light'.

Travelling light is a tricky thing to do. But it is possible!

You just need to be a bit organised and do a bit of planning and you should be able to fit everything you need quite easily into your carry-on case for a short trip.

As the recipient of very frequent flight and hotel upgrades, there's a lot to be said for looking stylish and tidy when you depart, fly and land. Airlines and hotels work on the principle on incongruity, if you look the part (stylish & tidy), you're far more likely to get the good stuff coming your way.

Here's my wonderlist of how to travel light with a week's worth of outfits in a very small case.

First of all, get yourself a good carry on.

I've had this Samsonite one for a while. Works a treat, lots of compartments and pockets and its literally been all over the world with me.

Get a good wash bag and a makeup bag. I'd recommend getting two separate ones instead of a ginormous one for both. Its easier to pack two small wash bags than one big one and its a bit easier knowing where everything is. I've got Tiger Tem versions very similar to these by Aspinal and I have a blue one and a brown one.

I always travel with a roomy handbag as well. Ideally one that I will use as my day bag at my destination.

Top Row Left - Michael Kors do some really great reasonably priced bags. I love the colour on this one and its only $138!

Top Row Right - Michael Kors Messenger, handy cross body bag in a fab colour. $198

Bottom Left - Proenza Schouler - what's not to love about this fantastic satchel?

Bottom Right - Chloe still are one of my favourite handbag brands for their laidback luxe.

Then you need one pair of fab jeans, a pair of denim shorts...(and a few tank tops and easy tshirts). Jeans are great as you can dress them down by day with a tank and flip flops, or throw on some bold jewellery, and some high heels and you've got an easy evening look sorted. Go skinny, bring back your bootlegs and a pair of tiny denim shorts will be versatile enough and hardly take up any space. A Wear also do some great priced womens jeans and denim shorts too.

A couple of cute day dresses. I love maxi dresses more than ever right now. I'd normally take a couple of day dresses so maybe one short and one long.

A couple of sexy party dresses. As you can see my colour palette is pretty much pink, purple and black. Fabulously feminine and supremely sexy! The good thing about all these dresses is they could work for anything, from a wedding, to a dinner date, to a cocktail party. Just imprint your signature style to your look with your accessories and you're good to go.

One, maybe two fabulous clutch bags are all you need. I normally take two very flat ones as they hardly take up any space and in case I'm hanging with the same people a lot, I won't look as if I'm always wearing the same thing! Look after your accessories and they'll last a lifetime. Always pack your handbags/clutches/shoes in the cloth bags they come with when you buy them.

A cardi/pashmina to keep you warm at night. I've got a few pashminas from MyPashmina, they're 100% cashmere, supersoft and come in the most fabulous colours. And as I'm a regular customer, you get to benefit too. Use the discount code YUMMY when you order to receive a 10% discount.

Some day time shoes...no matter what have to be VERY comfortable. I like to get around on foot wherever I go so i need to know my shoes won't make mincemeat of my tootsies by the end of the day.

Some night time shoes...I've got the red ones and I get ridiculous numbers of people asking about them. They are very glamorous and very showgirl-ish but I LOVE them!

And don't forget your bikini...

And there you have it. A week's worth of clothes, pretty much made up with pieces I have in my wardrobe (or very similar items) so I can guarantee it works!

Still Loving Louboutins

As a little homage to the red Louboutins I got for my birthday last year, which easily remain one of the most fantastic pair of shoes my feet have ever met...here's some serious shoe porn.

From the Christian Louboutin Winter Tales, Autumn/Winter 2010 Lookbook.

Don't say you weren't warned.

The Red Sole Bottoms

I am so dope like the Louboutins with the red bottoms, you gotta have them, you're glad you got them....

Any shoe lover knows the red sole is a Christian Louboutin trademark. And a fabulous one at that. Instantly, undeniably recognisable.

So what is up with all these other people doing the same thing? Isn't that a little TOO much copying?

I can understand why Faith jumped on the bandwagon. Louboutins are about £400-700/$600-900 which means very expensive.

Faith shoes are about £30-£80 which means very affordable. So chances are while there will inevitably be some cross over, both brands are catering for fundamentally different markets.

They're cute, and the colour and the style mean they're definitely a high fashion item which perhaps makes it easier to indulge as they're a much lover price point. The Faith 'Sabom' ankle boots are now reduced from £115 to £65.

But I am a bit baffled as to why Dolce & Gabbana have jumped on the same bandwagon. Your Louboutin shopper is quite likely to also be your Dolce & Gabbana shopper and if you like the red bottoms, you like the red bottom Louboutins. If I liked these shoes enough tow ant them, the red bottom would actually put me off as its so obviously biting Louboutin's style. These shoes are $429 which is a less than similar Louboutins but still, I'm wondering why such a powerhouse would blatantly copy another powerhouse?

And here are the Louboutins in the closest colour, which is pretty damn similar. For £445.

What do you think?

Foot Fetish Friday - A Bit Of Fluff

Love it or hate it, the feathery heel is hot property this summer. I love them, I think they're fun, utterly feminine and undeniably fabulous.

In my world, if you're going to drop a lot of moolah on something, I'd like it to be a bit special....and these shoes are definitely special.

And more than a little reminiscent of the Lido and Moulin Rouge.

You can get with this....for $130 by Brazilian shoe designer Martinez Valero at Endless.com

Or if you're a spendy minx, you can get with these...the fabulous Mount Street by Christian Louboutin (Mytheresa.com reduced from $866 to $516)

Foot Fetish Friday (Loving Louboutins Long Time)

Yes, I know, its something of an obsession.

And finally, finally I've managed to find not one but two pairs I'm in all types of love with so I decided to put the up for the vote.

One pair will be finding their way onto my doorstep for my birthday so I'd like all my lovely readers to cast their vote!

First up we have these sexy, striking, scarlet red Bretelle. A bit showgirl and a hella glam but I love them anyway, they're just all types of fabulous.

They are very, very red but I love red so I think I'd rock these a lot more than you might think. They're the type of shoes that pack an uberglam punch no matter what you wear them with, jeans, skirts, dresses, you name it,  these shoes ROCK.

And next we have these fabulous, fabulous black leather gladiator style 'Eclair Cut outs'. Now, the glam glad thing is very of-the-moment, but at the same time these shoes have a timeless quality. They're black and they're leather which makes them a complete classic AND I really only have about one pair of black shoes. For the most part black shoes are so dull and boring I avoid them like the plague. But these ones.....just whisper buy me, buy me.

So help me choose people!
