Los Angeles ...more specifically, Sherman Oaks
 
2. What do you do as a full time job?
I am a graphic and web designers and three days a week I work for an art dealer in an art gallery in Los Angeles
 
3. What inspired you to start your blog and when did you start it?
I started my blog around October 2007 just as a creative outlet and a way to use my web skills for my own personal use.
 
4. What have you enjoyed the most about blogging?
I really enjoy having a voice and being able to share with other bloggers and women what I've learned, and the possibility to inspire someone to think differently  ...and vice versa.  What I think I enjoy the most (and was a total surprise to me) was the large community of women that all seem to come together via blogging. To help each other through rough times and come together as one female voice.  That wouldn't happen in real life.

5. Tell us more about what inspires you on a daily basis when you get dressed...what's the number 1 priority? Do you plan way in advance? Does it take you 10 or 45 mins etc.
As I fall asleep the night before I try to think of different options to wear the next day.  I usually can't come up with anything at all and just fall asleep so I end up just randomly choosing something within about a ten minute time frame in the morning.
 
6. Any bigger plans for you in the world of fashion?
Not really at this point in my life.  I originally went to school for fashion and interior design but never finished.
 
7. Strangest rumour you've ever heard about yourself?
hmmm.  not really sure about this one. ... I'll have to get back to you :)

I love peanut m&m's
I love puzzles
I'm trying to get pregnant :)
 
9. Favourite accessories designers
I don't know if I have a favorite accessory designer.  I really always lean towards vintage items.  They tell a story and everything today is based on something that's already been done.  I'd rather have the original version.

10. Describe your favourite handbag and favourite pair of shoes (that you own)?
My favorite shoes are my gold Marc by Marc Jacobs peep toe platforms that I wore to my wedding reception.  Their sentimental value is worth more than anything else.  My favorite handbag is probably my Louis Vuitton speedy ...because it's timeless.

11. Favourite piece of jewellery?
My engagement and wedding rings.
 
12. Favourite clothing designers
Anything vintage, Chloe, Gucci,  BCBGMAXAZRIA ...just so my style.

13. Who do you think are the most stylish people around?
I have to say there are some pretty stylish young bloggers {Karla, Betty, Jane ..to name a few}

Bazaar, Elle Decor, Wallpaper
 
15. Which shop do you visit the most often?
I must admit, I do most of my shopping online now ...so, Nordstrom, Barney's, Neiman's & Forever 21
 
16. Which shop do you BUY from the most often?
Nordstrom & Forever 21 probably  {and vintage shops}
 
17. Place you'd LIKE to shop more often?
Barney's ...but they're a bit pricey.
 
18. Favourite place you've visited (city/country etc)?
I am in love with Mexico.
 
19. Dream job?
Mom :)   ...okay, a wealthy mom {because I hate stressing about money} :) and blogger
 
20. If you could work at any company, which would it be and what would you do there?
 hmmm..... I would be fun to work at for a fashion magazine.  That's something I would have loved to have done but thought of way too late to actually pursue.

21. Where do you see yourself in 15 years time?
 Hopefully happy ...in my dream house ...possibly on the beach  ...with my husband and little munchkins running around ...and a couple of French Bulldogs to boot.

"First I am wearing a maxi dress by DVF and this photo was taken at her studio! There was a blogger photoshoot and I was selected as one and was able to choose whatever dress I wanted to wear. I wanted to have a look that was very me so I did my own makeup (I am all about the eyeliner - Nars, MAC foundation and Laura Geller baked blush) and I just combed my hair. I am wearing a necklace of my own design from my Kitten Lounge line. It was amazing to have the entire DVF staff from those that worked in the store to the corporate people to help us get our looks together."

Tiger Tem's Fashion Bites Q&A with Kimmie Smith (29) of Kitten Couture

1. What city do you live in?

New York

2. What do you do as a full time job?

I am currently an assistant at Lacoste

3. What inspired you to start your blog and when did you start it?

I started my first blog See Pretty Things due to my love of accessories. Since I had been a model, people wondered what I thought about style and how to incorporate accessories to change your look. I loved it but I wanted more of a lifestyle site and that is how Kitten Lounge emerged. It covers fashion, style, beauty, food and music.

4. What have you enjoyed the most about blogging?

I love meeting the people that I do whether it's PR firms, designers and just those that read my site. I love the interaction and I love sharing what I know with others.

5. Tell us more about what inspires you on a daily basis when you get dressed...what's the number 1 priority? Do you plan way in advance? Does it take you 10 or 45 mins etc

My number one priority is whatever accessories I need to wear. I always have on a large ring and tend to wear my own necklace! I actually build my outfits around my accessories first. It takes me about half an hour or so to get dressed.

6. Any bigger plans for you in the world of fashion?

I have my own jewelry line so naturally that's what I want to continue doing. I love writing and sharing designers with my readers. My focus online has allowed me to work within Social Media so this is another area I want to continue working within.

7. Strangest rumor you've ever heard about yourself?

I don't think I have heard a rumor. Most people remind me of past modeling jobs that I have done and I am amazed that we have either worked together or we crossed paths in some way.

8. 3 random things about you

I only chew a certain kind of gum, I tend to only write in purple ink and only use purple post its and I do stop people to take a closer look at their accessories whether I know them or not.

9. Favourite accessories designers

I love Ana Reign she has amazing rings that I would love to wear. They're large and yet very glam.

10. Describe your favourite handbag and favourite pair of shoes (that you own)?

I have a Cole Haan bag that always gets compliments because it has a luxe feel and it's from the Village Collection. I love that it's large and is perfect for summer all the way into the winter. I have a pair of bronze Charles and David booties that are my absolute favourite to wear when it gets chilly out.

11. Favourite piece of jewellery?

My favorite piece of jewelry that I own is from Orfeo Quagliata who makes a glass ring that I always wear. My favorite piece that I don't own is anything by Tanagro - it's all handmade and GORGEOUS.

12. Favourite clothing designers

I am a huge fan of DVF as I love her whimsy and bold color. For casual, I love Lauren Conrad, I wore her pieces throughout Fashion Week and received many compliments. I love winter coats by DKNY, I always get another one each season.

13. Who do you think are the most stylish people around?

 Those that aren't copying anyone and have a style all their own. I think many people try to look like someone or throw out their closet to stay in "trend". We should incorporate pieces that allow us to evolve; however, we want to stay true to our own looks.

I love WWD Accessories!

15. Which shop do you visit the most often?

I don't have a set shop. I like to go to various boutiques to get a great mix.

16. Which shop do you BUY from the most often?

I buy from Intermix and Pookie and Sebastian.

17. Place you'd LIKE to shop more often?

I would like to find more places that cater towards indie designers and I believe in supporting them.

18. Favourite place you've visited (city/country etc)?

I love LA, Atlanta and Miami. South Beach is my favorite place as I love bathing suits.

19. Dream job?

To be able to design jewelry, continue with my blogs and finally being able to assist companies with their Social Media aims.

20. If you could work at any company, which would it be and what would you do there?

I would love to work at Vogue as a Fashion Editor. To have the ability to see so many lines and to let people know is out there, would be an amazing opportunity.

21. Where do you see yourself in 15 years time?

In 15 years I see myself doing exactly what I would like to do and working on additional projects with others.

2. What do you do as a full time job?

I just graduated from college with a degree in finance. I don’t want to put you to sleep with the details but I’m pursuing management consulting.

3. What inspired you to start your blog and when did you start it?

Rummaging through the more popular blogs and realizing that I wanted to hone in on what works best for me

4. What have you enjoyed the most about blogging?

Meeting new people and the constant influx of different trends and personalities.

5. Tell us more about what inspires you on a daily basis when you get dressed...what's the number 1 priority? Do you plan way in advance? Does it take you 10 or 45 mins etc.

Putting outfits together is really relaxing for me so I often find myself mentally putting newly acquired pieces with what’s in my closet.I have to admit that I play dress up when I find the time. So for big events or dinners, I typically know what I’m going to wear, which makes getting dressed more efficient. It usually takes me 45 minutes to get ready for something special, but no longer than 10 minutes for every day matters.

6. Any bigger plans for you in the world of fashion?

I’m just determined to go to as many fashion week shows in my lifetime as possible.Being in business and finance, fashion really allows me to push limits and experiment.

7. Strangest rumor you've ever heard about yourself?

That I look like Tila Tequila

8. 3 random things about you

I’ve been on two billboards…my head really looks bigger in print.

My idol is Ina Garten from Barefoot Contessa.

I eat fruit, yogurt, and granola parfaits every morning.

10. Describe your favourite handbag and favourite pair of shoes (that you own)?

I love, love my Alexander McQueen suede, pointed toe booties that I got from my favorite store – UAL – for $100.It is the prettiest thing on my shoe shelf.

I don’t have many handbags, but my dream bag is the Miu Miu pocket tote in khaki.

11. Favourite piece of jewellery?

A beautiful pair of Juicy Couture earrings my sister gave me for graduation.I know what you’re thinking, but I get a lot of comments for the antique emerald green design.

Fashion editors - I’m really tired of seeing celebrities strut around in the latest trends their stylist dictates, but of course, the Olsen Twins are phenomenal.

United Apparel Liquidaters (UAL) in New Orleans – best designer consignment store, ever.

Again, UAL because they have past collections of designer goodies for really good prices and I always find something special.
